Ms. Adams' Corner: I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Spring is in the air! Parents, please look for graded papers in your child's bookbag today. Report cards go home on Thursday. You can access our blog by visiting http://www.cobb.k12.ga.us/~still/. Once you get to the website, click on staff and then Adams.
Just a few reminders and tidbits for our class store: Parents, thanks so much for the donations for the class store. Everything is much appreciated!!!
What we are learning:
Reading: We are reading the novel Shiloh. This an AR book. Activities and comprehension quizzes will be given throughout the novel study.
Spelling: We will take the Unit 20 pre-test on Monday. The students keep their list of words to study in their spelling section of their notebook. If your child missed two or less on the pre-test, they have been given a challenge list of words as well. There will be a challenge test this Friday. The Unit 20 post-test is Friday, March 20.
English/Writing: DOL tests are usually every Friday. We have switched the test format to a more CRCT like test. We are studying a cumalative review of all grammar to prepare for the CRCT. We will continue with a review of adverbs, verb tenses, adjectives, verbs, simple and complete predicates, subjects, pronouns, common and proper nouns, and types of sentences too.Their next DOL test will be Friday, March 20. We will also be working on how to write an informational piece. With informational writing, the students will be learning how to use research, etc. in a report style paper.
Math: We are starting unit 4 in math compacting. The skills that we will be covering are 3-D geometry, peremiter, area, volume, and multiplication of decimals. Fractions, 2-D geometry and an extension of multiplication and division, place value, value, comparing numbers, rounding, graphing, addition and subtraction with regrouping is also a focus. Keep practicing those flashcards!!!! Math quizzes are usually every Friday.
Science: Mrs. Caden is teaching science. She is teaching the phases of the moon and space.
Social Studies: We are studying The American Revolutionary War. We will be using chapter 7 in the book. Activities and quizzes will be given throughout the unit.
