Caden Class News

Thank you so much for remembering me during Teacher Appreciation Week last week.  This is a special class and I will truly miss them when summer comes.

Caden Class News

Upcoming Events:

An important letter will go home today (Monday) about transportation after the field trip. Please send this letter back tomorrow morning to avoid any confusion after we return from our field trip.  Arrive tomorrow at 6:00 AM for the field trip.

Barnes and Noble has a summer reading program.  Read 8 books and get a free book. Sign up at the store.  Also, the local library has a summer reading program.  Please take advantage of these opportunities for your child this summer.  Encourage reading this summer!!!

Volunteers are needed to help with the 5th grade reception at the end of the year. Please participate in planning the 5th grade end of the year reception.  The theme is Oh, the Places You Will Go and the event will be at West Cobb Baptist Church.  Contact Jamie Naspinski is you are willing to help.  (thenaz@bellsouth.net)

Student Council  is donating different items to anysoldier.com.  5th grade students  can donate the following school supplies/necessities for our troops to pass out to local children.  writing pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, spirals, lined paper, tablets for primary kids, construction paper, scissors, glue, pens, highlighters, pencil boxes, markers, snacks (crackers, trail mix, fruit chews,gum, mints) toiletries toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, body lotion, ear swabs, chap stick, antigacterial soap, baby wipes.....And previously loved beanie babies (the children love them)  Thanks for your genorosity!!!

Academics:

Language Arts:  Guided Reading Groups continue.  We are working on plot, conflict, figurative language, setting, dialogue and characterization in our reading.

Grammar:  Review

Math:  Relationship between circumference and diameter.

Science:  Humans role in destructive and constructive changes to the earth.

Social Studies:  Test on Landforms on Wednesday!!

Caden's Class News

Progress reports come home today in green folders.  Please sign and return tomorrow!! Also, look for the ABC projects to come home today.  They are graded!!

Today is the last day for AR testing!! Congratulations to those students who acheived their personal AR goals!! Brittany Jackson--Jonathan Wagley--Patrick Hughes--Candice Cook---Chinna Ricketts--Austin Emory--Osvaldo Veliz--Evan Muzzey--Jennings Harrelson--Ryan Conniff--Celina Vincente--Chris DeMaskey---I am so proud of them.  Our AR rally is this Friday. 

The library is closed for check out beginning tomorrow so I will no longer require signatures for reading logs.  Please encourage your child to continue reading 20 minutes each night though!!!

There is a PTSA meeting this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. 

The Still Elementary Variety Show will be this Friday evening at Lovinggood Middle School's auditorium.  The cost is $1 per person.  I look forward to seeing you there. ( My daughter is performing!!)

The field trip to Blue Ridge Outdoor Education Center in Toccoa, Georgia is Tuesday, May 6, 2008. We will be departing from Still at 6:15 am and will return at 5:30 pm. Please be at the school no later than 5:15 pm or your child will be sent to ASP at your own expense. All students will return to the school by bus and cannot be dismissed from the Blue Ridge Outdoor Education Center . Listed below are the items your child should bring on the day of the trip.

Water bottle (lunch and an afternoon snack will be provided)-- A rain poncho (check the weather the night before) ---Wear sunscreen and a hat Insect repellant---Students should wear sneakers, no sandals or flip-flops. ---They should also wear the 5th grade class t-shirt and comfortable pants or appropriate shorts that allow them to run and participate in the classes.  Since the bus ride will last around 2 hours, students are allowed to bring hand held video games or ipods at their own risk. School or PTSA will not be responsible for lost items.

CRCT begins this Wednesday, April 23.  Our schedule is as follows:

Caden's Class News

Hope everyone had a great spring break.  The countdown is on....30 days until the end of school!!! We have a lot to cover before summer break arrives.  Check the blog weekly to make sure you don't miss any important imformation.

Caden Class News!!

T.G.I. F.

The last day to take AR tests is April 28.  It would be great if we had 100% of our class meeting their goals.  I will send home a sheet on Monday in the green folders detailing your child's progress.  Some of us need to read, read, read to catch up!!  Please encourage your child to strive for meeting this academic goal.  I plan to do something special for those that meet their goals. 

Do some spring cleaning.  Gather all old sneakers and send them to school on Friday April 4th.  The shoes will be sent to NIKE who will recycle them for playground flooring.  No metal cleats or metal eyeholes accepted.   

Field trip forms are due April 2nd for our Blue Ridge trip.

Caden's Class News

Hi everyone,

Green folders are coming home today because we simply ran out of time yesterday.  Please read and return the field trip form with your donation ASAP.  Donations should be put in the yellow envelope and then placed in the PTSA dropbox in the front lobby.  All permission slips need to be returned to me.

We have 2 monsters in our class that eat pencils...If you would like to donate an electric pencil sharpner to our class, we and our pencils would be so grateful!!

Don't forget to review for the CRCT!!!

Caden's Class News

The important things your child needs to be doing right now are practicing for the CRCT test online and reading 20 minutes nightly.  I am giving a lot of AR time in class to assure AR goals will be met.  Please make sure your child is reading the requried 20  minutes each night!!  Check last week's blog for a CRCT link.  E-mail me if you need your child's id number again. 

Also, if you have read this blog, show it to your student.  I will give students who have read this blog some Caden Cash.   They need to be able to tell me the two important things they should be doing each night!!
