Extended School Year: Teachers have been hired for ESY and will meet with supervisors on 5/29 to get their clas assignments. Following that, you will be contacted by the teacher. You will also receive a letter within the next few days regarding ESY. I will be sending packets and tubs to the teachers that contain their ABA programs, materials we use in discrete trials, goals/objectives, and communication/behaior information, favorite reinforcers, etc. which will help the teachers work with students effectively.

Anysoldier: Our school's student council is collecting items for soldiers. Our class is joining the kindergarten classes in collecting the following items: board games, playing cards, sudoku puzzles or other puzzles/games, frisbees, stationery, note cards, memo pads, new or used magazines (especially sports, entertainment, science/tech, current news, Readers' Digest, National Geographic, Guideposts), DVDs (comedy or action), CDs, used paperback books (popular authors) and previously-owned beanie babies for the village children. Items will be collected up until the last day of school. You can see more information about this program by visiting the website: anysoldier.com. Thanks for your generosity!

Schedules: Even though the school year is winding down, we are still working towards making as much progress as possible this year. I am sending home individualized schedules that reflect some of the changes we have made since spring break time. I thought you might like to see an updated snapshot of your child’s day. Be aware that from day to day some of the DTT blocks shift around, but the amount of time we spend is consistent. An exception to this is when students have Speech or Occupational Therapy, which may take the place of a DTT session or other activity.

Story Time: Hillgrove High School Beta Club is hosting a story time at the Avenue of West Cobb Barnes & Noble store on Monday, May 5. Students from the high school have invited elementary students to join them that day.

April 15

Welcome Back! It was wonderful to see everyone this week. The children seemed to look forward to returning to our routines and we have been sailing along.

Picture Packets are being sent home, for students who were here on picture day. Read the instructions and return the pictures, money, or combination. You can pay for the pictures online, but please send us a copy of the receipt so we don’t keep asking you for the pictures or payment. We will take another picture of our class now that we have a new student (not a professional portrait, but it will include all of us!)

Original Artworks are also coming home if you ordered.

Field Day is this Friday! This is a fun morning of physical activity, weather permitting. Parents are welcome to join us if you wish. We start shortly after the announcements (8:00 or so), meeting in the gym for a group photo (wear your class shirts!!). Then we’ll start the rotation of activities that will take most of the morning. I recommend sending a jacket in case it is cool in the early morning. Please send sunscreen if you want it applied, and a water bottle is also a good idea.

Our class will participate this Friday, regardless of grade placement. Parents are welcome to join us if you wish. I’ll send home some details later this week, so please watch your child’s folder. I will also post it on my Online Blog as soon as I have the information.

Extra Clothes: Depending on the weather (up down up down…) it is probably time to send in a set of extra clothes for warmer days. Some students have short sleeved shirts here, but most of them have grown some! I’ll send the warm clothes home once we are certain the cold weather is past. (I hope by the end of April!! When I lived in Minnesota, we had to wait until at least July, and then we still kept a sweatshirt in the drawer!)

Cups: For students who keep a cup at school, I’m sending it home for a good washing. I hope everyone comes back healthy and ready to learn for the last weeks of school.

Wish List: I can’t see anything that we need right now. Thanks for all your generosity.

Have a wonderful spring break! Get some rest, have fun with your families, and play a lot! We will see you back here on April 14.

Welcome New Faces: There are two new faces in our class! We are thrilled to have Ms. Donna Didier (Ms. D) as a full-time paraprofessional who started last Monday. This coming Monday, we will welcome Griffin, kindergarten, to our class. We’re glad to have him as part of our group!

Boosterthon Fun Run: We had such a fun time at the Fun Run! Everyone walked the track the entire hour with the Kindergarten and First Grade classes. It was festive, energetic, and a beautiful day. Pledge collection envelopes will come home this weekend, and the funds are due by next Friday. When I get pictures back, I’ll send home copies.

Original Artwork: The packets for original artwork are in today’s folders. If you choose to order, please return the order form, payment, and artwork to school no later than March 20. There are detailed instructions in the packet. Please see the PTA contact information in the packet if you have any questions.

Picture Day: Individual and class pictures were taken on Thursday. Everyone will receive a packet of pictures which you may keep if you decide to buy. If you don’t want the pictures, just return the packet.

Scholastic Orders: Online orders are due March 15. If you need the link & password, send me an email and I’ll get it to you.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Our own Ms. Pam has been chosen as Support Staff Person of the Year at Still. We are so excited, proud, and honored that she has received this recognition. She is such a wonderfully patient and peaceful presence in our room.

Boosterthon Fun Run: Instead of a spring sales fundraiser, this year's Fun Run will raise some money for Still ! The Fun Run is next Wednesday, during the school day, so all classes will participate. The students will be outdoors for an hour, running or walking the track as long as they are able (maximum laps, 40!) The pledge folders have been sent home for you to participate in pledging a set donation or  per lap. Funds will be used for a variety of projects in the school.

See the website for more information: www.funrun.com

Wish List: We are on the last Genie refill, and the last tub of wipes. We are ok for lunch supplies for now. Thanks again for all your donations!

Scholastic Orders: Another set of Scholastic order forms has gone home. You may order securely online, using the login information that was sent home in the daily folder. Orders are due March 15, so the books will arrive by Spring Break.
