Dear Parents,

 

Congratulations to our class for reaching over 100% of A.R. goal. 

We will have a special picnic on May 22nd to celebrate.

Thanks again to Mr. and Mrs. Heckstall and Mrs. Lankford for being our A.R. parents this year.

 

Kristina Brahm is our most recent Terrific Kid.  Congratulations.

 

Please look for your child’s Language Arts Journals, Science Journals and Math Journals to come home next week.  Read these with your children and enjoy them!

 

Please remember to continue to read with your child each night and update the Reading Sheet.  Continue to sign the Agenda as well.  Encourage your child to follow the classroom rules in order to earn as much “checkbook money” as possible next week.  We will have some final opportunities to “spend their money.”

 

Next week we will conclude our Science Unit on pollution and recycling as well as complete a Safety Unit on safety.  We will read about The Lochness Monster in Reading and learn more about poetry in English.   Our Math post test will be Tuesday, May 19th.

Dear Parents,

 

 

Congratulations to our Terrific Kid, Kristina Brahm.

Our Principal’s Math Student of the Week is Kendahl Heckstall.

Our class reached our 100% A.R. goal!

 

Next week we will continue our Reading Unit on the Titanic, our English Unit on Poetry and our Social Studies Unit on National Holidays and Heroes.  In Science we will learn more about Recycling and Natural Resources.  We will learn about medication as well as alcohol and drug abuse prevention.

 

Please remember that our Biography Book Report Cards and figures-posters are due by Tuesday, May 12.  Please check at home and make sure

all Media Center books have been returned.

Dear Parents,

 

 

The last day to take A.R. tests is Monday, May 4.  Be sure to read this weekend and be ready to test on Monday.

Thanks again to our A.R. parents Mr. and Mrs. Heckstall and Mrs. Lankford.

We appreciate their hard work and dedication this year!

 

All Media Center Books are due by Friday, May 8.  Please remember that your child needs to finish his/her Biography and answer the questions by May 8.  Then he/she can make the Biography Figure and complete the project by May 12. 

 

We will continue our Health Unit on Systems of the Human Body, Science Unit on Recycling, and Social Studies Unit on Cultures Around the World.  We will work on the Distributive Property of Multiplication and Partial Products in Math. 

In Reading, we will read stories about the Titanic and Mysteries of the Deep.

Dear Parents,

 

Thank you for having your children at school in time and ready for testing.  On Monday we will complete the Social Studies portion of the test.

Be sure to ask your child to play American Hero Bingo with you for test practice.

 

Please be sure your child has an early bedtime Sunday night and is well-rested for Monday’s testing.  Your student should eat a healthy breakfast and have two sharpened number 2 pencils, a water bottle, and a healthy snack. 

 

Congratulations to our students who have recently reached 100% of A.R. goal: Mackenzie Banks and Erin Spencer!  Many more children are very close in reaching their goals!  We have one more week to read and take A.R. tests so keep reading and practicing comprehension questions at home!

 

Congratulations to our Terrific Kid of the Month, Parker Noles!

Dear Parents,

 

 

We will begin CRCT testing on Tuesday, April 21st, and conclude on May 1st.  Please make sure your child has an early bedtime and healthy breakfast.  We will not be snacking until after testing per test manual instructions. 

 

The Reading portion will be on Tuesday, April 21st.  We are continuing to practice and study at school.  Please continue to do so at home.

 

Due to testing, we will not have Spelling homework or a Spelling test next week.  Please continue to read each night and have Reading sheets and agendas signed.

Dear Parents,

 

 

Congratulations to our Principal’s Math Students of the Week:

         Savanna Lankford and Nick Collins.

Remember to continue to practice Multiplication and Division facts at home.  We also want to congratulate Taylor Thompson, Patrick Falvo and

         Savanna Lankford for achieveing 100% of their A.R. goal!

 

We learned about Cesar Chavez, Eleanor Roosevelt and the Cherokees in Social Studies this week.  In Reading, we read books about heat and energy.  In Science, we concluded our study of plant adaptation.  When we return from Spring Break, we will learn about economics in Social Studies and magnets in Science.

 

As part of our study of the economy, we will have our Market Day on May 6th.  A letter went home yesterday explaining this project.

Dear Parents,

 

Thanks so much for the Teacher Appreciation gifts!  I have enjoyed the beautiful flowers, pictures and delicious fruit and candy this week.  Thank you so much!

 

Congratulations to our most recent A.R. stars! 

Patrick Falvo, Taylor Thompson and Savanna Lankford have earned 100% of their A.R. goals.  Please encourage your child to keep reading and taking tests.

 

Your children enjoyed the wonderful new Tellus Museum and all of the activities there.  We will finish learning about plants and habitats in Georgia next week.  We will begin a Social Studies unit about the economy and Eleanor Roosevelt.  We will continue to practice for the CRCT.  Please review at home online or with a practice book.   Listening to your child read and asking him/her comprehension questions will help your child score higher on the test.

 

Help wanted:  Please make sure your child has notebook paper and pencils each day.  We also need some new Clorox Wipes for our classroom.  Thanks!

Dear Parents,

 

 

 

Congratulations to the following students for recently reaching their AR goals of 100% or more:

Jackeline Martinez,  Maryse Moon,  Jorden Powser, 

Nichole Beck,  and  Jaja Johnson.

Several other students are close to reaching their goals also.

Nick Collins and Jensen Nguyen continue to exceed their 100% goals.

 

We finished our unit on landforms this week and completed our book about Franklin Roosevelt.  Next week we will learn about plants and Georgia Habitats in Science.  We will continue our Beverly Cleary Unit in Reading. 


We look forward to our fieldtrip to the Science Museum on Wednesday, March 25.  Please remember to wear your class T-shirt. 

 

Remember Book Report Projects are due April 2.

Dear Parents,

 

 

Congratulations to our Terrific Kid, Jensen Nguyen

and our Math Student of the Week, Savanna Lankford.

 

We began our last Math Unit this week.

Please keep studying multiplication and division facts at home!

We are adding a Wall of Fame for Division Facts in addition to our Multiplication Sea of Facts.  Please help your child earn a place for his/her name on the wall by reviewing facts at home.

 

We are concluding our study of Landforms and Bodies of Water next week and will begin to read a book about Franklin Roosevelt.

Please look for information about a project to come home next week.

 

In Science we will learn about plants from the different regions of

Georgia.

Congratulations to Kristina Brahm, our Math Student of the Week.

Parker Noles  is our Character Kid.

 

We are finishing our Persuasive Essays for State Writing Assessment and will begin our Narrative Essays next week.  We will begin our new Math unit on Monday and continue to learn about Landforms, Bodies of Water, and Frederick Douglas.   In Reading we will read Ramona stories for our Beverly Cleary unit. 

 

Please remember to sign your child’s Agenda and Reading Sheet each night.

Please listen to your child read and ask him/her comprehension questions.
