Every group is reading factual books about the Arctic or the Antarctic.  I am reading the book Mr. Popper’s Penguins as the class read aloud.  We are discussing how facts can be used to write fiction books.

HONAKER'S HIGHLIGHTS

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a relaxing break.  Thank you for encouraging your child to complete the Holiday Challenge.  Just a little time each day practicing skills helps them so much.

Report cards go home on Friday.  Be sure to sign the card and return  it in the envelope with your child on Tuesday.

If you have a chance to visit where FDR stayed while he was in the warm healing springs of Warm Springs, GA, I think you will enjoy it.  The Little White House located in Warm Springs, GA is an excellent trip the whole family will like.  It is especially pretty during the spring when the azaleas are in full bloom.

 

 

HONAKER'S HIGHLIGHTS

We have been very busy with checkpoint testing this week.  It will continue through Monday. 

The quilts that have been presented are awesome!

Please remember to send in your wrapped 100 piece puzzle.  I sent notes home in the red folder of those that need to bring in their puzzle.

HONAKER'S HIGHLIGHTS

The closer the holiday break, the faster we seem to have to work.  Please remember the math quilt project that is due on Dec. 20^th.  This is a review of skills learned in 1^st and 2^nd grade and reviewed in 3^rd.  I hope the students are having a wonderful time working on the project.  They were very excited about it.  Thank you Mrs. Grindstaff and Mrs. Isaac for helping the class make ornaments today.  Our tree will look beautiful!

HONAKER'S HIGHLIGHTS

We have had a very busy week in third grade.  The students wrote Haiku poems and shared them with the class.  They are also working on writing a response to literature to the book Kat Kong.  A big thank you to Rachel for sharing the books Dogzilla and Kat Kong with the class.  Please continue to practice math multiplication facts every night.  Just 10 minutes a day helps so much.

Your child brought home their ITBS scores on Thursday.  There is a link on the Still website to a brochure that explains the ITBS results.

The students shared their book reports this week and their shoe boxes are on display in the media center.

We have had a busy week having pumpkin fun on Monday.  We learned about the author's purpose in writing and are busy learning the multiplication tables.  Please practice with your child every night for their test and continue to review what they have passed.

I enjoyed meeting with you during conference week to share the exciting news about your child.

The students have a red folder with their behavior sheet attached.  There are also other papers on the right side for you to  read and keep as needed.  Please remember to sign the behavior sheet and the paper telling about the book report which is due on November 14th. Return the red folder with the papers inside.
