Happy St. Patrick's Day

Dear Parents,

We are starting a new incentive program for division with the third graders.  Each time your child passes a time test on division facts for six through nines, they will put a star by that sign in the hall.  For example, if they pass their division facts for six, then they put up a star by the six sign.  We will be taking these test on Tuesday, so please study with your children.

In math, please remember to continue to practice their multiplication math facts.  It is most important that the student study their math facts every night.  This nine weeks we will be working on double digit multiplication and division with remainders.  If the students do not know their facts then they will really struggle.    Remember that ALL the  children need to practice rounding numbers to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand.  There are several math problems on the CRCT test that the children have to round numbers.  There are even word problems asking the children to round the numbers then add or subtract.

In language arts, we will be learning about pronouns and using I and me.  The children did a great job on their biography reports and were very creative on their biography dolls.  We are going to be working on writing narrative stories this week.  These are stories with a beginning, middle and end.

Thank you to all the parents who sent in chocolate and cards for Mrs. Rudder for Parapro Day.  She loved the tin we put together for her. Thanks,

Kerri Seagraves
