Due to short days, we have not had as much time to practice as I would like.  We will therefore have our presentations on our problem-solvers on December 1st (3rd grade) and Dec. 3rd (2nd grade).  I hope this helps everyone feel more prepared.

Service Specifications/Continuation Criteria

Included with your child's Target Report card is an updated Services Specifications/Continuation Criteria form.  This gives the criteria your child must meet in order to remain in good standing in the Target program.  Please sign and return the white copy to your child's Target teacher.

Welcome to a new school year!

Target classes will begin the week of August 17th. 

Our parent meeting will be held on September 3rd, prior to the PTSA meeting, at 6 p.m. in the media center.  We hope to see you there.

Fourth and fifth graders will be studying a unit called "Ultimate Connections".  Students will gain an understanding of the technological development of bridges and the impact bridges have had on society throughout history.  Students will explore important aspects of bridge design, including the scientific and mathematical principles involved.

Second and third graders will work on a unit called "What's Your Problem?", in which they will learn many methods of solving problems, both mathematical and practical.

We are looking forward to working with your students.

Third World Entrepreneurs

Second and Third graders have been working on a unit on money.  The students will be writing books about entrepreneurship that show how much they have learned about some of the terms involved and about how businesses and the economy work.  Information regarding this should have come home with the students this week for parents to sign and return.  I recently found out about a website that I have shared with the students.  It allows people to loan money to entrepreneurs all over the world who are trying to improve their lives.  A link to the website is shown below.  I thought that some of you might be interested in what was, to me, a new way to help others help themselves. There is a great deal of information about how the program works, the risks involved, and the benefits of the program.  There is certainly no obligation for you or your student.

Happy New Year

We hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break. 

We look forward to seeing all our students this week.  There will be a parent meeting on Wedneasday, January 21, at 7 a.m.  We will be finished no later than 8:00 since the students will be arriving.  It will be in Mrs. Cone's room.  Mrs. Cone is in room 213 which is the old music room.  This meeting is primarily for parents of new students, but others are certainly welcome.
