3rd grade recorder information

3rd graders have had an introductory lesson on the recorder, a member of the woodwind family. We use recorders in 4th and 5th grade music classes working on rhythm and note reading. You may purchase a recorder at any music store. We have 2 music stores in the area - Ken Stanton Music and Ponier Music, both on Dallas Highway. Please do not purchase a recorder from a Dollar Store or Target or Walmart. For 4th grade your child will also need a pocket folder with prongs. If you have any questions, please let me know.

5th Grade Compositions

Our 5th graders have been hard at work on compositions based on Harry Potter Puppet Pals. Each composition has an introduction, an A section with at least 2 ostinatos (patterns that repeat), a contrasting B section, and a coda. These videos are posted on http://www.schooltube.com.
Once on schooltube, click on the blue "Find a School" box at the top. Type in Still Elementary and follow the prompts. You do not need to sign in to view our videos. Enjoy! If you'd like to view the Harry Potter Puppet Pals video, click on my post that asks "how many ostinatos can you find?"

Third grade composition

Using our Orff instruments, the Lehstrud group was inspired by the rain to create "A Rainy Afternoon." We are actually playing a math problem (4+2+2=8). Enjoy!
