Greetings!

I am Dr. Missy Johnson, School Counselor  for 2nd- 5th grade. 

I am certified school counselor.  I have worked as a professional school counselor for the past 15 years.  I received my B.S in Psychology and M.S. in Community Counseling from Alabama State University.  I completed an add-on certificate to my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of West Georgia and an Education Specialist Degree from Jacksonville State University.  I earned my EdD (education doctorate) in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University in 2013.  

I have worked in the counseling field for over 18 years.  Initially, as a therapist for adolescents who lived in group homes and shelters in Montgomery, Alabama and then as an independent contract therapist (among other roles) for the Department of Family and Children Services. I have over 300 hours in play therapy training and supervision. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Play Therapy (APT) and American School Counselor Association (ASCA).  

To share something personal, I currently reside in Douglasville, GA.  My husband is a high school teacher and we have three beautiful children between the ages of 7 and 13.
